    Default bluing or....nail polish????

I filed my front sight down a scooch. now its bare metal.
    can I get away with nothing...nail polish....bluing?

I blued the tip of a barrel 20 some odd years ago. but for an area as small as I'm talking about, do I really need to blue?

You can also get cold blue (or black) pens for doing very small areas. Check Brownells or midwayUSA.

I have a bottle of this stuff for touch-up work just like the OP is asking about, it's good stuff. Clean the spot with rubbing alcohol,(91%), follow the instructions, it takes about 2-3 minutes per application start to finish.
    More applications = darker blue.

After applying cold blue (pen/swap/whathaveyou) be sure to wipe off with a WATER dampened cloth. Water neutralizes/cleans the excess chem. Oil may not.
    Oil after wiping w/water.
    Result can be unexpected rust.
