Pittsburgh residents prevent cops' low-light range time
Pittsburgh police have a range above Washington Blvd, across the valley from Highland Park. Turns out they've been prevented from using the range past 5:00 and all day Fri, Sat and Sun, because of an agreement with Highland Park residents. Therefore, the cops get no low-light training at all. The range is 1/2-mi from the nearest houses. Maybe they should stop blaming their ammo, tell Highland Park to screw themselves, and get some practice.

Re: Pittsburgh residents prevent cops' low-light range time
Surely there would be another range nearby (within reasonable travel) that they can use for night shoots. Somewhere more remote???

Re: Pittsburgh residents prevent cops' low-light range time
I'd be pretty pissed too if they were shooting at night and it were in my neighborhood.
Never knew they had an outdoor range right there in the city.
BTW, The officer they were interviewing at the range at around 45 seconds was filmed at the PMSC pistol range (well outside the city) - not the Pittsburgh police range in question.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Pittsburgh residents prevent cops' low-light range time
The Allegheny County Police Academy is within earshot of my house and sometimes they train until dark. Many is the time that I have been outside on my deck and hear the firing. If the wind is just right, I can hear the range officer's commands.
This is not a problem. I am hearing the sound of law enforcement officers in training.
Having just spent a few hours at the range today I am painfully aware that it takes constant practice to achieve accuracy. How else are the police to get that practice?

Re: Pittsburgh residents prevent cops' low-light range time
Surely the residents and cops could come to some sort of compromise. Make Tues. a night for some evening shooting and take Monday off. it can't be that hard.
