    Red face Special Gun Purchase

    Hello to all -

I'm new to this forum, but figured this would be a great place to ask my question.

Every Father's Day for the past few years, I buy my husband a new firearm. He's very tight when it comes to spending money on himself and although he'd love to have every gun ever known to man, he sticks with buying very basic (read boring) protection.

Last year I bought him a Remington 870 Marine Magnum. To say he was happy doesn't even begin to explain how much he liked that shotgun.

So, here's my question. If you could buy ANY gun (under $800-$1000) what would you choose?

So far I've been thinking of getting him a Glock 23 or 23C with a LaserMax site. But first of all, I can't seem to find any in stock and secondly, I can't decide which one is best - the 23 or the 23C.

Please don't give me a hard time if I sound uneducated about the subject, because I am. I'm not anywhere near to knowing what my husband does. I'm just a wife of 23 years who wants to have a happy and surprised husband.

Any help or advice will be GREATLY appreciated.

    Thanks,

    PorterGal

HK USP .45 for a handgun ,or for a long gun a used AR-15 style rifle .

or if your thinking about the glock you could have something custom made like this one .

I was afraid someone would ask me that question
I'm going to sound like such a dumb wife, but I don't know what all he has and if I try to casually ask him, he'll know I'm up to something. His favorite part of any holiday that has gift giving is guessing what I'm getting him - and he's somehow almost always right!

When he leaves the house today, I'll go through and gather names.

    Thanks for replying!

Thank you for your suggestions. I'm going to look up the 2 you listed.

The custom made Glock is very cool looking! Is it generally a good thing to buy a gun that has been altered?

Thanks so much for your help!

it's not an easy question to answer, if you get 5gun people in the room chances are you'll get 5 diff answers on their fav gun and type of shooting. I'd go with a gift cert. even if its you writing in a card "good for one firearm of your choice" so you don't narrow it down to one store, go out together and have him pick what he wants.

Does he own a 1911 yet? That would be a GREAT surprise.

I have to agree with XD45 with this suggestion, what fun it would be together to go shopping for a firearm and maybe shoot together to find the one he likes.

As much as I'd like to do that, he wouldn't go for it. Like I said, he's just too practical and would tell me that he'll spend half on himself and spend the other half on me - or something to that effect. As kind as that is, I get all that I want and once the purchase of a gun is made - it's his!

I do know that everyone has a different opinion, but that's why I wanted to ask. I'm starting from nothing and people giving me suggestions gives me options to research.

Thanks so much for your opinion and I do wish I could do what you suggested - but I know my hubby too well
