FTF Transfer of an AK in PA
Can you do a FTF sale of an AK47 in PA without going through a background check/transfer at a FFL?

Yes... With any long gun you don't have to go through a background check for private sales in Pennsylvania...

Buyer just has to be 18 or over too, correct?

Re: FTF Transfer of an AK in PA
That is correct, 18 yrs old to buy a long gun, FTF sale in PA requires no paperwork as long as buyer is a PA resident. If buyer is not a PA resident then it must go through a licensed dealer, as per federal law.

Re: FTF Transfer of an AK in PA
This is assuming that it's a semi-auto AK, not a full-auto NFA item.
I don't know about NFA items, but I'm pretty sure that they can't be transferred FTF... Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, of curse

So Oph.. does that mean your Yugo sold? If you don't mind, could you PM or post what you ended up selling it for? I'm interested in picking up a Yugo AK, and always am curious about real fair market values. Thanks.

Re: FTF Transfer of an AK in PA
Acccccccctuallly....you CAN transfer FTF on an NFA firearm.
You just have the person selling it submit the paperwork to ATF, once the transfer is approved, you meet up, and he hands you the gun, and your copy of the paperwork.
the only snag is when the firearm involved has a under length barrel, either under 16" for a rifle, or 18" for a shotgun, and machine pistols, AOWs, etc.
They all have to be transferrd thru a dealer
so a M16 with a 20" barrel can go FTF after ATF approval, but a 14.5" barrel M4 cannot."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH
