Life isn't fair: Pistol Edition
So I have been shooting pistols for about eight years. Like most I started with a used clinker, eventually upgrading here and there. Now I have a Glock 30, which I love, but I shoot so much that every free nickel goes to ammo, so no new pistols lately. My dad wants to try my hobby, so I take him out for a couple hundred rounds and he has fun, gets his LTCF, says he may start looking around for a pistol of his own. The other day he calls and says, "Hey, I went and grabbed a new pistol, not sure how nice it is, I'm going to swing by and show you".

I wonder if it will cost him as much to feed it as it did to feed you.

Stranger things have happend, but not much!
I like it too. Its very original, although if I had my way it would be stainless. I like the rail too.
It will be close but I doubt it, I'm a big boy
I keep telling him that!! I also keep telling him how much simpler my Glock is and how much better he would like it. No dice so far!Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Amen. **PROUD III**

Correct response when he showed it to you (with sad face and much tsk-tsking): Dad, I hate to tell you this but ... what a klunker! Since I love you so much I'll bite the bullet and take it off your hands.
Chances of success: slim and none.

I wish my dad was that cool!
Is dad looking to adopt any 38 yr olds?
On a serious note. I hope you and dad have a lot of fun with his new toy.

Re: Life isn't fair: Pistol Edition
Thanks! We just got back from the range, the pistol is sweet. Put 200 rounds through it, 100 WWB and 100 Lawman, all 230gr. FMJ. We used the factory Kimber 7rnd mag and an 8rnd Wilson mag they threw in. Had 2-3 FTFeeds during the session, although to be honest they all happened to my Dad and he may have been limp-wristing, but I can't be sure. Also, they all occured with the Kimber (J+J) magazine. I saw my old man getting a little worried/frustrated with the failures and, as tempted as I was to tell him that NEVER happens and his 1911 is a piece of shit he should give to me, I eased his mind and he felt better. After shooting my G30 he did however inquire about a G21, and got into a good conversation with some trap guys about their shotguns, so hopefully I have a new addict with money to spend on my hands!! Anyway, the gun is extremely accurate. I am more of a tactical shooter than a target shooter, I would love to see how an expert 1911 shooter would do with it. Ragged holes at 7yds, fist sized groups at 10, and I even shot a few at 50ft with great results. My only complaint was that, with my "Glock" grip (high on the backstrap, right thumb laid out straight on top of left thumb), my right thumb would engage the thumb safety under recoil. I wouldn't kick it out of bed for eating crackers, but I do like my grip the way it is. All in all a great trip!Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Amen. **PROUD III**

Re: Life isn't fair: Pistol Edition
Someone needs to defend the "Dads".
Think of the sacrifices us Dads make raising kids to adulthood. The time spent with kids and the cost. Why just feeding and clothing one would make the price of a new Vette look cheap. You shouldn't be begrudging him the nice looking Kimber, you should have bought him one. The least you can do is keep him in ammunition.
Let me know how much refining I need for this guilt thing. I keep trying with my kids without success. I haven't been able to raise the guilt level enough to pry the old, used S&W 629 out of my son.
All seriousness aside sounds like a good brace of pistols for enjoyable father-son shoots.
