The trials and tribulations of finding an FFL
As I reported in another thread, I bought a gun on GunBroker.com and needed to find an FFL for the transfer. I really miss having an FFL.
First I tried Iron City Armory and was told that it is $60 with no discount for members. At least he didn't threaten to punch me out.
So I contacted a couple guys listed on GunBroker that are close to me and no one responded and it's been more than a few days.
Next I tried a guy on Neville Island who was listed on GunBroker with a $20 fee. He responded quickly and tells me that it is $20 for the transfer and $20 to use his FFL. WTF? $40? He also claims to do 150 transfers a week. I'm pretty jealous at that. If that's consistent, that's somewhere between $150,000 and $300,000 a year just on transfers.
Finally found a guy in McDonald who does transfers for $20 with no extra charges. I'll let you know how that works out.

I think you may have misunderstood Wayne at Island as I'm pretty sure he charges $20 maybe plus tax or something.
Also, if you can get to Neville Island, Ross Township is only another 15 minutes and then you have John at Firearm Transfers for $20 out the door, no hassles.

There's a thread here somewhere listing shops and reviews in the Pittsburgh area.
It hasn't been updated in a while though. I'll see if I can find it.
Only cost me $20 at my FFL for two lowers I had ordered online.

Pretty sure there was another thread here not TOO long ago complaining about his price on items shipped to him as opposed to FTF
I know for a FTF it wasn't bad - I drove all the way out there a year or two ago to buy a handgun from a forum member. I think it was only $20 for that.

Master Ammo in Rochester charges $25 if I recall. I know that might not be convenient judging by the locations selected, but keep it in your back pocket just in case.
