    Default Pittsburgh Zoo

We will be going down that way and thought about stopping at the zoo if we have time. I was curious if they do wanding or have metal detectors if I'm carrying concealed?

I saw no such things when I was there last time. I think you're good to go.

Zoos freak me out and think it’s sad that animals are just houses there I get it some can’t survive but maybe they would like the shot at trying?

Thanks for the feedback, of course the day we had an appointment in Pittsburgh the zoo closed early due to a private event. We have to go back again next month so hopefully my daughter will get to see it next time. We ended up stopping at Living Treasures Animal Park on the way home, it was so so but at least broke up the trip home so she wasn't stuck in a truck most of the day.

FWIW, the Pittsburgh zoo is nothing special.

I mean, if you've NEVER been to a zoo before, then yeah, it's ok I guess.

I went to one of those Living Traasures parks on the way to Erie. It was at least as good as the Pittsburgh Zoo.

I dunno.. I always thought Pgh Zoo was pretty good. We go a few times a year, including the Asian Lantern Festival nights - which are a lot of fun. Our girls are young (12, 7, & 5); they still enjoy it a lot. I personally like the big cats and the polar bears, both of which always seem to out & active. I also like the aquarium. They’ve got a little red panda I think, but not big pandas which disappoint the girls - they’ve done some incredible panda adventures in China which they loved - just went again a couple months ago.

I mean, if you’re comparing it to Singapore’s Night Safari… then no - it’s not that great. But, I’d say it’s well above something like Living Treasures for sure. Our family also enjoys the Singaporean night zoo every other year or so, have done Living Treasures up I79 & the one by 7Springs, and countless excursions to the London Zoo…. The Paris Zoo I’d say is actually not as good as Pittsburgh.. dor perspective…
I’d say the Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium is actually pretty good; exceptionally good for PA. If it matters, if all of those, the Pittsburgh Zoo is the only one in which we’ve been able to CC… Paris, London, Chengdu, Singapore, etc. do bag searches; hard to bring your backpack folder AR along let alone a pistol. 🤙
