    Default Field strip S&W 3913

Here are the directions for field stripping my pistol.

I know how to do it...my issue is that when i try to "press inward on the slide stop button"....it is really hard. I actually have to put a coin...or something hard... between my thumb and the button in order to get it to move...

I know i just need to toughen up my skin...

Should this be lubed at all?

All that I have done on the smith series is to get the notch in the slide lined up with the hump in the slide stop. Then just push on the other side where the slide stop comes out on the other side of the frame.

Once you get it started, just pull out the slide stop from the front of the lever and you are good to go.

I have not lubed that area of the pistol, and I don't see how that will help.

Problem you may have is in not getting the cut out in the slide lined up with that hump in the slide stop. Its gotta be dead nuts even or you will have problems in getting it out.

    hope this helps.
    gotta love her ;)

A plastic punch of some sort can help greatly. The fact is that these third gen smith autos are just tight as hell. Add that tightness with springs that are often as hard as woodpecker lips and you have a difficult field strip.
