    Default WW2 Firearms Producers

I learned a while back that Rock-Ola, a jukebox company produced m1 carbines for WW2. I thought that this was pretty cool and was wondering if anyone knew of any other non firearms companies that produced armaments for WW2.

Lots of companies stepped up to support the war effort. IBM, Remington Rand (made sewing machines), Inland Division of GM, Singer, Standard Products, Underwood and tons of others. Not to mention all the companies that made parts for firearms. That industrial might is the "sleeping giant" Japan woke on December 7, 1941.

Interesting thing about Rock-Ola, that's the surname of the company's founder. Okay, there was no hyphen in his name but his name was David Rockola.

Back to the subject at hand, any company with any of the manufacturing skills needed by the war effort started making stuff for the war. Guns are really pretty easy to make once someone else has done the design work.

I recall hearing westinghouse was also invloved somehow with arms manufacturing. That took me by surprise. GM will make anything that makes GM money (and I am not saying there is anything wrong with that).

That's cool about Singer! I am mainly interested in finding out more about domestic product companies so that is right up my alley. Frigidaire made some stuff too.
