AR15 Quad rail handguard recommendation
I'm in the market for a CAR length quad rail handguard for my AR that's not ridiculously expensive ($100 range). There's so many on the market, I'm having a hard time making a decision, so I would like to hear what you guys have to say about some of them.

Re: AR15 Quad rail handguard recommendation
Under $100? UTG is one of the few. I had the UTG and some of the "higher quality" parts had wiggle room on them (arms lever quick detach). It's only $50 more and you can buy a midwest industries quad rail, and it's going to be in 100% spec and the finish won't wear.

From what I've read, the Daniel Defense rail goes on easily - that may lower costs also.

$100 range!?!?! Probably under the gun and YHM or brands i've never heard of. $100 is an awfully low budget

Re: AR15 Quad rail handguard recommendation
I looked for a while and have the few mentioned in this thread below 100. However all of the high quality rails run from 150 to 400$.
That being said the Midwest Industries ones are the cheapest out of the lot if you just want the standard handgaurd. Im still thinking of a carbine handgaurd from them that is extended to fit over the standard front site and gas block. I think its the 17X or 20X for free float.

Bravo Company is the one site ive found that has a really good comprehensive selection of AR 15 parts and accessories. There are a few there that are quality peices for just over 100$. Yeah, I agree, you'll have to at least go $100 something to $200...check out YHM's site.

Re: AR15 Quad rail handguard recommendation
Thanks for the help guys. I should have said $100 give or take, because Im willing to spend around $150, possibly 200. I just don't really want to go over that. Some of the ones that were meantioned are some that I was looking at, like Midwest Industries, and YHM. Also had my eye on the Surefire M73, but that's $200, so I'm a little hesitant on that one.

Re: AR15 Quad rail handguard recommendation
I have the Midwest Industries on mine. Very high quality for the price. I would recommend them to anyone.

Re: AR15 Quad rail handguard recommendation
The more money I spend on my ARs, the more I hear this little voice in my head saying Keep it Simple, Stupid.
I bought my carbines because they were easy to handle, light in weight and simple to use.
The more doodads that I hang off of and on these guns, the more I think I should just go ahead and buy a barrett 50 cal for my knock around gun.
It would be cheaper in the long run and it would probably be lighter to carry.
Anyway, I have daniel defense and yhm quad rails. I have no complaints except the cost. They are tight, easy to put on and take off and they hold on to whatever I mount on them.Last edited by reels18; February 12th, 2008 at 04:22 PM.
