Shops that rent guns?
My uncle is looking to buy himself a pistol, probably a full-size 9mm of some kind. He intends to use it for mostly for plinking/target shooting and wants to "try before he buys". I don't think I've ever been to a shop in PA that rents guns, but I am told they do exist. Anybody know of some places that will let my uncle rent a few guns before he makes a decision?

Re: Shops that rent guns?
I doubt they exist. Too much liability

Re: Shops that rent guns?
I can tell you there are NO shops that let you rent a gun and take it home. There are however many ranges/shops that let you rent a gun and shoot it on their range (usually with ammo purchased in their store).
Only problem is he might have to travel a bit to find one, as the closest to me is at least an hour away.Last edited by sigarms229; February 11th, 2008 at 09:39 PM.

Re: Shops that rent guns?
I looked at the possability of renting guns by the day for range use when I opened my shop.
NO WAY!
The liability ins. is a killer AND
The cost to do so would also be way too high because you would need to run the person thru pics everytime they wanted to rent just to make sure you weren't renting to a convict or someone with a PFA who wants to rent a gun to take care of the wife or husband.
Most indoor ranges and some outdoor ranges have guns you can rent but they are usually limited in numbers and variety. Maybe hook up with one of the group shoots here and see if a few members would let you try thier guns.

French Creek Outfitters near Phoenixville rents pistols you can shoot in their range. I think it's $10 per hour for the pistol and $12 per hour for a lane fee.

Yep. You're exactly right. I modified my incorrect post. It comes up on caller ID and Google as 'Shooter's Range', but the sign outside still says "Shooter's Delight". I think they're may have been a name change when it closed, then reopened, but they didn't bother to change the sign.

Re: Shops that rent guns?
Freedom Armory in Glen Rock PA has a huge selection og handguns for rent (.22LR to .500 S&W). Semi-autos, wheelguns, many 1911's, XDs, Glocks, and a handful of rifles and fully automatic toays as well including a Tommy gun . You can rent a Kel Tec mouse gun or a Wilson 1911
You have to purchase their ammo for rental guns, but their ammo is reasonably priced. You can bring your own ammo for your own guns of course.
Nice store, superb shooting facility, and good folks work there.
