How is best to treat the beginnings of rust
I have abused my shotgun. I admit it. I payed way to much and I don't even care about that. I usually keep it clean, have had it for years, and clean after shooting. But it has sat by my bed faithfully without a rub in a while. Near a cracked window mind you.
So with intentions of cleaning it, and replacing the ammo, I took it out to shoot today. I happened to notice on the elevator some surface spotting.
It must be the humidity in the air

Re: How is best to treat the beginnings of rust
I had a similar situation develop. I gave it a good scrubbing with 0000steel wool and oil. Go slow and not to heavy handed because you don't want any scratches. After I clean it up, lubed it and put on a protective coat of EEZOX (?) or any other rust inhibitor should work.
