Define "not as clean as I would like"?

By themselves, walnut is a better cleaner while corn cob is a better polisher.

I use crushed walnut because it doesn't clog up my .223 cases and works quite well for all my other brass. I add some liquid Iosso case polish to the media and all the brass comes out looking brand new. Some heavily tarnished cases (like the ones I pick up at the range) may not come out sparkling, but then again I'm not too worried about cosmetics when I'm doing range ammo.

just dont use anything with ammonia in it, it makes the brass weak.

Most fine auto polishes will work well to rejuvinate worn crushed walnut shells.

Polish; not wax. About a teaspoon on top, and then let the vibrator run for a couple hours. Brass looks like new, and is very smooth and slick. You'll only need minimal lube for full-length sizing.

Walnut or corncob with two tablespoons of NuFinish liquid car wax in the tumbler.....make sure you mix it well.

Makes cases slick and somewhat tarnish resistent, too.
