Thumbs down Ammo Shipping total BS

Like a lot of people on here, I buy bulk ammo over he internet. Or at least I used to when it was there. The thing that always pissed me off was a deal like, "1000 rounds of 5.56 for $200" then you order it and get to shipping! They want something like $40 or some other god awful price to ship it. Its a load of crap and just a way for these places to make a buck. I would rather have them post a real price and give reasonable shipping. A case in point, Last week I ordered 3 dozen plus traps for this up comming trapping season from a place in MI. It was a 65 lb package shipped UPS what were the shipping charges? Yep $19.95 They will get my money again for being fair and honest. I'm just tired of false prices from ammo companies, post what the real price is and give a real shipping rate.

You gotta keep in mind that some businesses have shipping "deals" with FedEx, UPS, and some just pay some of the shipping themselves, BUT, that is not to say there aren't scammers out there trying to make money on shipping costs.

I'm not aware of Haz-Mat on assembled ammo? Regardless, the point is that shipping charges vary widely from site to site on the same ammo. some can charge $20 to ship a case others will charge $40 to ship the same damn ammo.

Vote with your money. Don't pay high shipping fees.

It definitely depends on where the shipment is coming from and having worked shipping and receiving and having dealt with UPS/FedEx quite a bit I'd say $40 shipping (depending on distance) isn't that outrageous.

Naturally, you always have to do the math when trying to find what saves you the most money. You might be able to find gas five cents cheaper somewhere else, but is it worth driving an extra fifteen miles for it?

Ammo shipping prices are sometimes pretty high, and there are some 'shipping gougers.' But on the other hand I wonder why some are reasonable. If I UPS ground a 20 pound package to the midwest it's about $30.

But I agree, it's a little aggravating to find ammo at .20/round, then when you go to check out, it's .30/round because of shipping. But the retailer can't really advertise a shipped price, because that wouldn't be fair either. If they're shipping a case 100 miles versus 1000 miles, there's certainly going to be a difference. Should it be the same price for everyone? If so, everyone's going to pay the high price.

Everything purchased online or mail order has a shipping factor. I get frustrated when it's based on price instead of weight. If I buy a $500 item that weighs 1 pound, that should be cheaper to ship than a $100 item that weighs 10 pounds.

But we all understand your point and feel the same pain.
