Default Laptop computer hard drive question

Is there some type of USB device that I can use with my desktop computer that will let me plug in and read the contents of a laptop hard drive?

I have already removed the laptop hard drive.

The laptop had problems (power supply, screen), but the hard drive is OK. I'd prefer not to open up and mess with the inside of the desktop machine (swapping cables, etc) to do this.

    Thanks.

You're looking for something like this: Rocketfish™ - 2.5" Hard Drive Enclosure

I have no experience with this specific brand, but Bestbuy has them.

you can get external 2.5" hdd enclosures for about half the price it costs at best buy online. I searched em' for you on tigerdirect. Newegg.com is also another good site. Also checkout zipzoomfly.com They are listed as cheap as $7.99 + s&h

If you just want data off the drive, you don't need the enclosure. I use something like this at work all the time.

Unrelated, but if you ever need to get past a BIOS password... I've successfully disassembled a newer Dell laptop and cleared the BIOS of it's password with a 9 volt battery and a paperclip...

You can google for some pretty good instructions with pics...

I have seen a sata to usb for 2.5 drives at bestbuy. The only downfall is the adapter is like 60$. It looks like a nice little unit, I was not able to find it online though.
