While I would never loan a pistol, I would sell a shotgun for a buck with the agreement that a gun be purchased ASAP. Then I would buy my gun back for one dollar. I did something similar for my wife's uncle. sixteen of his guns for a buck. They were cataloged, cleaned and stored. After his divorce he bought them back for a buck.

If you have a ghost gun, nobody could link it to you and the person you lend it to could have bought one even if they were prohibited. I could train someone to be safe. Gun safety isn't exactly rocket science. There is a very small list of people I would lend a gun to and it would only be a long gun.

Lending a handgun when the recipient has a LTCF is OK.

Of course all assumes nobody involved is prohibited.

I'm going to do this for my oldest nephew. He is coming out to my place this Sunday. I'm going to go over safety and we are going to shoot them to make him more comfortable. He can choose whatever he wants to borrow. He is a chef and just lost his job earlier this week. I told him to save his money, as I'm not going to sell him anything.

I used to think that I'd give a rifle to our neighbors if shit went insane, but over time I started to think that if THEY don't think they need a way to defend their home and children, why the hell should I worry about them.

There are probably two other people nearby that I would not hesitate to hand a rifle to, but like others have said, they already have their own.

You all know who you could give a gun to and not worry about it.

I have never been asked to borrow a gun until last week. I was surprised by the first person who asked me. I told her she would be better off learning how to shoot first, then I would reconsider lending her a shotgun. I was going to take her to the range this week...we are closed for the time being. She hasn't pressed the issue. I was asked again today. I basically said no to any handgun or AR, but would consider a shotgun. I suggested to both people they should make the investment and go to Cabelas or buy one from GB. Oh, they also wanted my ammo.

Last thing I want is to get shot by someone who borrowed a gun and came back looking for something else...
