Default Maverick 88 and Mossberg 500

I have a Mossberg Maverick 88. I wanted to get the shortest legal barrel and a collapsible stock with a pistol grip, but Google searches only turn up Mossberg 500 barrels and stocks. I'm assuming the Mossberg 500 and Mossberg Maverick 88 parts are interchangeable?

the maverick 88 ssecurity six shot has an 18 1/2 inch barrel which is only 1/2 inch over legal minimum. as for being interchangeable parts to the 500 im not sure i know certain places sell stocks for the 500 and say not for the maverick so i assume stocks dont interchange if you keep on looking stocks can be found that are made for the maverick

I have a mossberg 500 with a Maverick barrel on it...or the other way around, I forget which . But yeah, they should interchange.

It had a folding stock w/ plastic pistol grip. Kicked pretty hard, downright uncomfortable to shoot. I replaced that with a Pachmayr pistol grip w/ no stock and it's much easier to handle.

I have a knoxx stock on my Maverick 88 security so there are parts out there for it. Barrels are interchangable between the Mossy 500 and Mav 88.

"The trigger groups will not interchange between Maverick 88 and Mossberg 500 guns, but the majority of other parts including barrels, stocks, and shell magazines will (the barrel and magazines must be the same length)."

This quote is from the link and it will give you a little more info. Emphasis on little.

The Maverick web site states "# Maverick 88 barrels are compatible with Mossberg 500 model barrels within gauge and capacity.". The link is included and has a little more info.

I think the main difference between the two is the location of the safety. One has it behind the trigger, the other has it on the top rear of the receiver. I seem to remember seeing pictures where someone interchanged the trigger group so the gun had two functioning safeties. I'm no expert on this and who am I to refute what wikipedia says...
