    Default PAFOA bookshelf.

What books do you guys feel are a must on the bookshelf. I'm talking about anything from gun manuals, survival manuals, law books, zombie books, great works of fiction or anything else that would interest our members.

What are the essential books every POOFA member needs to read?

I just finished reading DAY BY DAY ARMAGEDDON by J. L. Bourne.

It's written as a journal of a man surviving the Zombie apocalypse. It certainly has a place on my bookshelf.

I am also a huge fan of reference type books like the SAS survival manual or my Jane's CHEM/BIO handbook.

My dad also has some foxfire books that show how to do things the "old way"

    What's on your bookshelf?

My recommendation is: "In the Gravest Extreme" by Massad Ayoob. This text, especially for the carrying-beginner, addresses many topics of discussion we often find here on PAFOA.

I have purchased many copies of this text, though I own only one at present. Just as many here print off the PA Patriot OC flyers and hand them out as appropriate, I pass out copies of "In the Gravest Extreme" with other documents I find prevalent to those who inquire about carrying in general. Seems like a small investment to preserve our collective rights...

I handed out my last two in the UK this past week. Very interesting to hear the English perspective on carrying firearms at this point in their current events... Though some said, "You Yanks and your guns..."

Surgical Speed Shooting by Andy Stanford

"How to achieve high-speed marksmanship in a gunfight"

This was recommended to me by a fellow PAFOA member who is one hell of a shot.

    I haven't finished it yet.

SAS Survival Guide - John "Lofty" Wiseman
The Zombie Survival Guide - Max Brooks
Building the Perfect Survival kit - John D. McCann

I have a few others, but so far I've been reading and rereading these few books lately.

    Edit to add:
can anyone recommend any books that will help identify the edible foliage in our area, or a survival/outdoors type book that deals primarily in PA wilderness survival?
