Re: PAY PAL SCAM GOING ON!
this is a classic phishing attempt to get your login passwords so they cna clean you out.
i get these for:
ebay
paypal
IRS
various banks (that i dont have an account with)
yahoomail
aolmail
etc etc.
paybal, ebay, and banks will never contact you like this, NEVER answer or use one of the links in these emails.
always examine the URL, and call your financial institution if necesary."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Note: any whingeing crazy that hits my PM inbox will be deleted without reply

Re: PAY PAL SCAM GOING ON!
Yeah, you should NEVER access a site requiring a log in through an email.
If eBay or PayPal or your bank or anyone else sends you an email that requires you to look at a page, no matter the reason given, CLOSE THE EMAIL. Then use your bookmarks or Google to find the real site for eBay or PayPal or your bank, log in normally, and see if they give you the same message. Any real alerts will pop up as soon as you log in on the real site.
It doesn't matter whether the email asks you for something innocuous like "please review the transactions", or whether they warn you about unauthorized activity like "someone used your account to buy guns in Zagreb, we will notify the FBI in 24 hours unless..."
What all of these people want is for you to log in your User Name and Password. That's all they want. They don't need you to send along your credit card info (although that's always a bonus). They just need you to type in your access codes on their site, and they have you cold.
It's the easiest thing in the world for a scammer to copy the format of the real site and slap it onto his own untraceable site, so just because it "looks like" the real page, means nothing. NEVER, EVER log in to a page from a link in an email.

Hey jaybell thanks for moving this to the right area, sorry about that! I thought I would post this because it looks quite real compared to most of the others that I have seen.

Re: PAY PAL SCAM GOING ON!
FYI most of these companies already have your name, and will use it in ANY correspondence, I know Paypal does....

Re: PAY PAL SCAM GOING ON!
Why are you guys still using paypal? Just like their original parent company(not sure if they're still there), eBay, they are anti. I won't send 1 penny their way.

Re: PAY PAL SCAM GOING ON!
I don't use paypal, never have, never will! But thats a whole other thing with electronic money that kind of irks me. Like I said earlier, I just thought I would post this for the people that do use it.

Re: PAY PAL SCAM GOING ON!
I recently made a purchase on eBay and as usual, paid via PayPal. A few days later, I received a phishing e-mail which informed me that my PayPal account was restricted, so I should follow the provided link and enter my information.
Yeah, right! I've never had one problem with my account in nearly four years. I reported that sucker to PayPal in about two minutes flat."Pride and dignity are good, but only in moderation." P-11 Shooter
