Windows 7. Unimpressed
I think that I have a decent computer. It's a couple years old but it has a 3 Ghz dual core processor, 3 GB of RAM, 500 MB video card, and a 500 GB hard drive. It runs with Win XP perfectly fine.
Today, I decided to upgrade to Win 7.
As usual for Microsoft, they go out of their way to change the controls so you have to get used their new system. BMW once said that their concept of change is evolutionary not revolutionary and I think that MS goes the other direction.
Microsoft's likes to change what they spent years getting us to accept. If General Motors suddenly decided that turn signal controls should be on the dash, there'd be a consumer backlash.
On top of that, booting takes longer, shutdown takes longer and my screen keeps getting messed up.
To make life worse, my favorite game, Cue Club, won't run.
So, for the time being, it is back to Win XP.

Re: Windows 7. Unimpressed
Buy a new hard drive so I can install Windows. Now that's just downright practical.
I personally like W7 over XP.
I haven't found one feature of Win 7 that makes me say "Wow! How did I live without this?". Granted it has only been a day, but it isn't endearing itself to me. Just getting my default data directory to point to my data drive was a pain. Show file extensions? That took some in depth study.
On top of all that, Cue Club doesn't run.
Maybe it's time to switch to Linux.

I've been using Windows 7 since its RTM. I love it! Fast like XP and the looks of Vista.

HAHA!!
I'm a young pup at only 27 and can agree with pretty much the entire statement!
And to boot, I'm an electronic engineer so I can't stand the 'glitzy' look of things that slows down the operation of the program.
It's not a necessity, but whatever makes you happy!
If your thinking of switching to Linux, check out this site
Ubuntu, as the slogan of the distribution states "just works".Last edited by buster2209; December 16th, 2009 at 08:10 PM.

Re: Windows 7. Unimpressed
So would a computer built for Windows 95 be able to run Windows XP? Everytime a new OS is released it isn't designed on yesteryears technology. If you upgrade the OS you must upgrade the computer too for optimal use of the OS, esp with the new 64 bit OS. If you're trying to use W7 on a computer built for XP then don't bitch us because it's slow.
