The dispatcher sounded a little shocked. "YOU SHOT HIM?". I guess it isn't everyday you get a armed citizen actually shooting the bad guy.

The dispatcher is probably not used to hearing that. It's always the other way around. Did I get this part of the story straight, the bad guy who got shot was laying in the middle of the road and another bad guy went through the first bad guy's pockets as he lay there dying?

Yep... and that idiot is now charged wiht tampering wiht evidence. Geez, what about robery? If the news is accurate (doubtful) then I recall them saying he took the dying bad guys wallet and other items.

Friggin chaos this one is.

I grew up about 20 minutes from that scene... it really has gone down the crapper in the last 15 years or so. Hats off to the Pizza shop owner for 1) trying to earn an honest living in a cruddy neighborhood, 2) defending himself!

What gets me about this story is that the news commentator refers to the criminal as the "victim" and seems to be soliciting sympathy for him when taking to the older gentleman.

The shop owner is the victim of the robbery attempt and also the trauma of having to apply lethal force in his own defense.
