Audacity of Hope... is to never fail?
"Americans work harder than the people of any other wealthy nation. We are willing to tolerate more economic instability and are willing to take more personal risks to get ahead. But we can only compete if our government makes the investments that give us a fighting chance -- and if we know our families have some net beneath which they cannot fall."
So as long as the Gov't pays enough money and they are there to catch you if you fail then we will take risks?
where is the risk if you cannot fail? The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

This is Obama deception-speak for "we must kill capitalism".
What a disgrace we have become as a country._________________________________________

That's a fact. If "O" and his cronies succeed with their agenda, this country is in for a world of hurt. The ultimate goal of this group, IMHO, is dictatorship. Socialism, by definition, is merely an intermediate step.
I pity my grandchildren. The greatest generation left us an oasis and the baby boomers have destroyed or are on the road to destroy what they built.

Re: Audacity of Hope... is to never fail?
No surprise. I am just surprised so many people missed this for the past two years.
This is the type of thinking that will allow people to depend upon the government and not have the ambition to start their own businesses or excell at anything.
Unfortunately we have had an imperfect Union since the inception. I view this nation sort of like I view religions. If you look at the Founding principles and the writings and look at how Men have interpreted those princiles and the outcome of those interpritations you clearly see how far we have strayed. It's sort of like taking the word of God and using it as a justification for the Crusades, the Inquisition, or Jihadism because Man has erroneously interpretered the words or has willfully twisted them.

Re: Audacity of Hope... is to never fail?
The problem is that noone was looking back to see how far we had strayed from the original path...we are lost in the woods and only heading further in. It was done perfectly too - little steps in one direction for your protection, for the betterment of society, safety, whatever they used to push it. Now it is no longer subtle - the fact that we are actually discussing universal healthcare or a mass reliance upon the government for anything other than defense of the nation shows how far the Constitution has been perverted, and the American dream of hard work leading to riches has been replaced with reliance.
Sixty years ago, people were persecuted in this country for being a 'Red' and for wanting the government to provide...now it is commonplace. The idea of learning history in order to not repeat it is moot in todays society, where we are making the same mistakes that all great empires did. Once you lose the desire for self-reliance, the ability to achieve it disappears, and a new civilization moves in.
The hell of it is that people don't see the problem of a socialist society - they envision it being like America today with all of our rights and everything, but we are all living like the middle or upper class. In reality it is very different, as the Soviets found out, the Germans, French, and Norwegians are currently finding out, and we will soon find out. It is not fiscally sustainable, but when you use facts, figures, and data to support this when talking to a supporter, their response is typically "It would be different here"...
I wish only there was someone that give me the type of hope for change that they have...oh wait...And don't think you're off the hook, voters, you're the ones who made this bed. Now you're the ones who are going to have to move over so a gay couple can sleep in it. Tomorrow you're all going to wake up in a brave new world, a world where the Constitution gets trampled by an army of terrorist clones, created in a stem-cell research lab run by homosexual doctors who sterilize their instruments over burning American flags. -- Stephen Colbert
