    Default YUGO 59/66A1.........I bought it

I went ahead and bought the YUGO SKS. I spent maybe $30 to $50 bucks too much for it but hey, it's mine now. The SKS looks excellent in the pics. I hope it is as nice as the pics show.

What high cap. mags can I buy for it? I see AIM has some 40 round SKS mags for 19.99. One is a steel mag while the other looks polymer. If it says SKS mag will it fit the YUGO? I would like to order some before the rifle arrives.

    Here is the auction.

You may have to do sme work to the mags. to get them to work.

As long as you are happy with it, don't worry about price.

The best magazine for that rifle is the one that is mounted on it. Learn to use stripper clips, it will be more reliable and cheaper.

    My 2 cents.

Nice looking rifle. you may have paid higher than market price now, but depending what happens during the next administration, it may be a bargain.

I'm not a big fan of hi-cap mags. They tend to be less reliable than the original box mag. Also, with stripper clips, you can load an SKS pretty fast. However, since there's no telling what the next administration may do, you may want to pick up some mags while they're available.

most def a nice rifle and as another said it is the value for the buck. that value can only be placed upon an item by the buyer. if your happy with the deal then it was a good one. a very nice rifle. i have an ak i just upgraded with a new stock array and laser with optics. i am very happy with it and i have 30 rnd ak mags. what i have been considering is 20 rnd mags , the profile of the 30 rnd seems as if it would be a hindrance in a close quarter combat situation, as far as the handling of the rifle as it goes way below the bottom of the pistol grip. i actually think for home defense or a tactical assault i would rather have a 20 rnd mag with backups. wtf? the seals still carry m-14's and they dont use 30 rnd clips. although the need for rounds is relevant i think it is overplayed. get good with you weapon of choice and you automatically make fewer more

    TTR,
    NICE.

Please, for the love of god, do not butcher such a nice SKS.

If you wanna put semi-reliable hi-cap mags in an SKS, buy a beater rifle and go crazy with it... just don't mess with that one.
It looks to be in really good condition, and it's value just won't be the same in the future if you have to go shaving some of the wood to get the hi-cap mag to fit properly.

Vince said it best. Buy the mag just to have it, but leave it out of that rifle unless you really need it.
Better yet, buy an AK if you want hi-cap mags.

I love my Yugo, I'm sure you'll enjoy yours too.

Emptymag, I didn't know shaving the mag well would be needed to use a high cap mag. That definatey won't happen.

I have several AK's with high cap mags. I'm also familiar with stripper clips as I have a few Mosin's.

This SKS will stay the way it is.

    Thanks for the props everyone

I too just recently picked up a Yugo SKS. Got mine in today from Classic Arms. Condition seems to be very similar except mine is covered in machine oil and needs a good scrub down. I have a tapco T6 stock coming, and 4 20 round mags inbound. Not sure if I will go that route right off but I definitely won't be changing anything permanently and i will hold onto the old stuff.

    Nice purchase.

Before you go adding folding stocks and detachable mags, make sure you read up on 922r. Don't want to get in trouble for having too many evil features.

That is a beautiful rifle... for the love of God, let it stay that way.
I just bought a Norinco SKS Paratrooper, and I love it.
I actually like using the stripper clips.
