    Default AK sight adjustment

Ok guys i am having a senior moment.

Had the new to me sar-1 out to the range today. It was shooting about 3" to the left at 50yds. So, do i want to push the front site post to the left or the right when looking through the rear site? I'm leaning toward pushing it to the right--but i can't for whatever reasons rap my head around it completely tonight.

    Thanks

    Tool:

    Adjustment:
Moving the front sight shaft horizontally to the left (viewed from the shooter's position when firing) moves the point of impact to the right on the target.

The actual amount of adjustment depends on the tool. The tool instructions typically instruct the user to turn the handle x turns to change the points of impact y inches at 50 or 100 yards. This number is tool specific, as the thread pitch directly influences sight drum displacement.

Excellent, thank you. Now where can one acquire one of those neat tools? I was just going to use one of the c-clamps i have in the garage but since they have an official tool, i'll get one.

    Thanks again.

You push the front post in the direction of the error. So push it left and the point of inpact will swing right.

Whenever adjusting sights I remember FORS
    Front Opposite
    Rear Same.

If you want to move your point of impact right and it is by front sight adjustment then you move your post to the opposite side. Push it left.

Think of it as if you were to look through the rear sight while moving the front sight to the left until it disappears, now you would have to move the rifle to the right to get the front sight back in the picture. in turn moving the POI (point of impact) to the right
of course you only need very litte at a time this is just for an example
