    Default Backup Holster Selection

    Hey all,

I'm planning on ordering a holster for my new pistol. However, most places that make decent holster make them "to order", so it's gonna be a wait.

In the meantime, I was hoping to pick up a cheapy-cheap holster so that a) I can experiment with how/where to wear the gun, b) so that once I place the order for a "real" holster, I have something while I wait, and c) so I always have some sort of backup.

The criteria I'm hoping to meet are:

    1. Left Handed
    2. Around $20 (this is flexible)
    3. Tuckable
    4. Single standard clip (not liking the J or C hooks)
    5. Straight drop (no cant), so I can experiment with wearing in front of the hip, behind the hip, and crossdraw.

I've been looking all over the web for something that meets the above and can't find anything, so I figured I'd see if anyone has any suggestions. Again, this is not going to be a permanent, long-term holster. I understand the importance of buying a GOOD holster, and I have my eye on something.

    Thanks in advance!

Gee, you aren't asking for a lot in a $20 holster...haha. Kidding aside. Desantis makes a nylon holster that is left or right handed. I have one and it works well on 4" autos....it also has a pouch for a spare mag. I don't recall the model number. All you have to do is buy a universal holster that will support a 4" auto frame.

    Also try

    Uncle Mike's
    Bianchi
    GunMate

I have a GunMate IWB holster that I can loan to you until you get your custom holster. IM me and I'll give you my cell number and we can meet.

I never found CTD to be cheap...at least in my experience. They do seem to sell some junky items...no offense to those that are loyal CTD customers.

Yeah, I know I'm being picky. I just wanted, if at all possible, to keep the "backup" as close to the real thing as possible.

    Thanks for the advice.

    Default UPDATE

Found something for a reasonable price. Link to my review of the shop:
    http://www.pafoa.org/forum/shops-20/....html#post7841

and a link to the holster itself:
    http://www.gunfightersltd.com/catalog.html#thol

Definitely not a custom holster, but for the price works really well as a backup/spare.

It has a "J" clip, but otherwise check with Dillon (Blue Press) they offer a nylon holster switchable left/ right, adjustable cant in that price range.. I bought one, it didn't please me for carrying a PT101, as the gun is so short, it rides too high , and overbalances. But it may well work ok with a slightly larger gun.
