So some Obama supporters show up in my driveway...(Presidential Politics)
If I had the chance to go to college, I would have seriously considered getting a seminary degree. Today reinforced that need.
I'm in my driveway. It's asphalt, and the sun is directly overhead, so it's lots of fun laying on the asphalt working on my old riding tractor pulling the blades off. Now I'm hunched over a vise teetering on two sawhorses, grinding a mower blade. It's part of the pre-mowing ritual every once in a while. Sparks flying, crud from the blade forming a black powder that settles on everything. After a 75+ hour work week, I'm pooped before I've started. My arms are already tired, and I have another blade yet to go. I'm still pondering whether I should heat treat these blades, or just bolt them back on. Damn, I really need to get a blade balancer. What are they up to now, $6? Uh oh....something isn't right. Something changed in my environment.
I see cars flashing past in the reflection in my glasses, but something's still there. Moving slowly towards me. Don't have any Ninja friends. Wait, can't actually -see- Ninjas. WTF...is this an oh shit moment?
Close, it's a couple that obviously aren't from around here. Both wearing blue Obama T-shirts. First observation: anyone that makes an election decision based on a t-shirt shouldn't be allowed to vote.
Ah, this is different. It's a Bob Marley wanna-be with his fake Jamaican accent. Or maybe it's Obama's brother with a Kenyan accent. Not that it matters, 'cause Hawaii said Obama's one of theirs. Maybe. Like that so-called birth certificate on the Democratic website is real. Yeah, they had hi-res error-free scanners in 1961. Sure they did. I electronically archive paper documents all the time. They always have a flaw somewhere, like an old crease or coffee stain. At least the fibers in the paper or a trifle misaligned. That certificate looked like it was generated by software. A flawless PDF, as I recall. But, I digress. Rastaman is talking mon, must fo-cus on his query.
So here I am, a middle age suburbanite covered with burned particles steel, rust flakes, hot, sweaty and not exactly predisposed to the Democratic philosophy. I think they realize I'm not tuned in to their gospel, they're acting like they're lost, keep asking for a certain street address (me, thinking "your on this street dummy, yeah, that's my address, stop acting stupid - you know where you are"). Funny, it's my address. So, I cut in and say "sorry, you're in Republican territory in this neighborhood". Wakeisha* chimes in "I respec' dat!" They visibly lose interest and start to leave.
Me, realizing the opportunity for faux language misunderstanding works both ways: I tell them I know where there's a pool of unregistered voters nearby. Okay, now I *really* have their attention. I give the directions. Down this street. Five intersections, maybe six. Look for the sign on the right, says DEVON. Big fence around the property. Can't miss it. They fall over each other heading for the car.
Father, forgive your humble agent-provocateur. You admonish us not to lead the sheep astray, be a stumbling block and bear false witness. I knew I misspelled in sin. It didn't read Devon. The sign reads Devereux.
I wish I could have seen the look on their faces when they realized where they were.
* Not her real name No clue what it really was, nor do I care.

You should have quizzed them on Liberal philosophies and got them to admit that they had no idea what Obama-bama-ding-dong stands for. Then you should have directed them to the article on the Black Republican website, pointing out that Martin Luther King was really a Republican.
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened."

You are a very nice and caring person. Alas they probably will not understand .
GrizzI always stressed to my son"one shot one kill that was all that is needed". When He came home from Marine Corp Boot camp He was telling me about the Marines stressing "ONE SHOT ONE KILL" He looks at me and the light bulb went on Dad was now a whole lot smarter than he was 13 weeks ago.

If you had the time (and it seems like obama supporters have this kind of spare time) you could have feigned interest in their cause and tied up a few hours of their time. A hour or two of their time wasted on you is an hour or two that they're not convincing someone to vote for their boy.

Possible ending of that story:
Two campaign workers show up at a large residential facility for handicapped adults, realizing the nature of what just happened; they fall to their knees praising the will of George Soros. One quickly makes a phone call; soon 12 vans from the local chapter of Acorn appear and quickly register 85 new voters.
Oh wait didn’t voter registration close on October 6th?
Its okay according to the registration paper work provided to the county board of elections this all happened 3 weeks ago.
