BCM's Short VFG vs Mapgul's RVG; A Mini Review

I generally use a Magpul RVG (rail vertical grip) as a hand stop and less of a grip, so when I saw BCM's new Short version of their VG, I thought I'd try one out. The slight rearward slant of the BCM version improves the comfort and feel compared to Magpul's bits and BCM quality is evident.

Here's a pic mounted in front of a RVG (you may notice a slight color difference, the BCM is a lighter FDE compared to Magpul)….

The BCM feels thinner, which is better for my preferred "thumbs forward" grip and still allows easy access to my mounted light. I tend to have my middle finger jammed in between the rail and VG and the BCM's fatter top puts my finger in a better position. Overall, I prefer the BCM VG to the Magpul RVG for my hands, YMMV and all that.

Pros?
-Made in the USA
-Seems to be a quality piece with a small amount of storage in the grip
-More comfortable for my hands with the thumbs forward grip
-Short VG should snag less

Cons?
-BCM's FDE isn't a match for Magpul, which is of minimal concern, but may bother the OCD
-Cost; about $45 compared to ~$20 for a Magpul RFG

I don't have OCD - I have CDO. It's basically the same, but the letters are in alphabetical order... the way they're SUPPOSED to be

I like the looks of the BCM stubby. After using handstops and the AFG, I still prefer vertical grips. This is probably the one I'm going to get.
