Shotgun barrel lenght?

Is anyone on this site able to give me specific law concerning "sawed-off" shotguns?

Is it legal to OWN one/make one as long as I do not sell it?

I have an old double barrel J.C.Higgins I would like to shorten it for a home defense gun. I understand the length I should make it is 18.01".

Just fill out a Form 1 with all the other applicable form/fingerprints/Cleo signoff, Etc in duplicate , drop $200 in the mail . Get yer blue stamp and "saw away"

I want to make a 9" double barrel Savage fox / now Baikal 311 import.........

18" is the Legal requirement... anything less is NFA

just measure with a dowel rod and the bolt/chamber closed.

18" barrel and/or less than 26" in overall length for shotguns.

you dont get a "class 3 license" unless you plan on DEALING or MANUFACTURING in NFA weapons for sale, and even then, its not a "class 3 license".

if you don't understand what it is, or how NFA of '34 works, its probably best not to comment on it.

Mine too..

I hate when dealers show me something obliviously retarded and they think it's "COOL" cause it has a threaded barrel and I should buy it cause I got all the "Class 3 stuff" ....

Thanks JayBell, I am now educated on the matter. I can see why it's a pet peeve as I learned that on this board.
