    Default Remington 141 Gamemaster

I have my father's Gamemaster. He purchased it in 1946 using his mustering out pay when he was discharged from the Navy. He was born and raised in Beaver Falls. It is ironic to me that I should find this web site. God works in mysterious ways... all of that to get to this...

It is still my favorite rifle, though I do not shoot it often. I shot it today, disassembled it, and reassembled it. Now I have a problem; the slide has locked to the rear position. I am unable to move it forward. What have I done and how can I remedy this problem?

I post this question on this site because I found a post in this forum from "mardo" regarding the disassembly of a model 141 that was posted 2 years ago. I am hoping mardo is watching and can help.

A belated Happy Christmas to all, and Merry New Year!!

medavis- It has been awhile since I stripped mine. I'll tear mine down to see what's up. It is a little tricky to reassemble, if I remember correctly. You owe Lycanthrope a beer for alerting me to your post although I haven't helped you yet.

OK, this might help. With the trigger assembly/rear stock removed, lay the barreled action in your lap, bottom side up with the barrel pointing to your left, reciever to your left. Place the bump in the top of the bolt into the recess of the reciever. With your right thumb giving pressure to the bolt gently slide the slide to the bolt. On the left most sear assembly or maybe the disconnector I'm not sure what it is, push down on the right side of the hinge pin which will lift the 1/8" wide arm into the slide assembly. Push the bolt snd slide together. They should slide as one unit now. Do a function check and you should be good to go. Hope this helps. More questions? Be patient as I am not online as often as I used to be.

Thanks to all for the replies!

The difficulty is the rifle IS reassembled. After doing so, I did the function check, and THAT is when the slide locked in the rear position. I cannot pull the slide forward now. Since I am unable to pull the slide forward, I am unable to disassemble the rifle and start over. Does anyone know of any way to work around this??

Can you pull the trigger guard out, or is it locked up also?

I unfortunatly got rid of this book a few years back, but iirc, the 141 was covered.

If you can't drop the trigger guard, I can only recommend a gunsmith. Good luck, and keep us posted.
