Default new guy in pa, moved from jersey 2 years ago

Is it difficult to purchase a rifle here? 10 Years ago I was charged with possession cds- was aquited not guilty. I also was convicted of 2 dwi charges with a breathalizer refusal charge. I assume I would not pass this pics background check. Does anyone have any inf on this subject?

First of all, I bet it feels great to be out of the PRNJ, doesn't it?!?!

As far as your first "issue", it is not an issue. Being charged with a crime does not prohibit you from owning firearms, only convictions.

I don't THINK your DWI charges will matter either, but I'm not sure, as I've never had one. Someone smarter than me will be along shortly to answer your question.

If you are eligible to own firearms, buying a rifle in PA is easy. Walk in, pick out your rifle, fill out one form, wait a couple of minutes for the dealer to call in your background check, pay for your new gun, and walk out smiling. This is only one reason why PA is vastly superior to the PRNJ.

Thanks for the response, I just wanted to pick up a cheap rifle for target practice and I'm kicking myself for the dumb crap I did in my early 20's lol. My friends at work go to a gun range and I'm embarrassed that I probably cant buy a rifle!-lol. live and learn I guess

Try running a PA State PD Patch background check. $10 can't hurt.. Not 100% fool proof.. but hey.

I found this site today when I got the bright idea to buy a rifle, I called a local gun shop, told them about my past problems with the law and they basically said dont waste my time coming in to apply you will be denied! I was just curious because guys I work with guys that have similar type pasts and have no problems getting firearms

Not every person that works at a gun shop knows the laws.

If a person gets denied for a firearms application, is that like another bad splotch on your record?
