Glock 27 vs. Springfield XD40 SC
I am going to be getting my first carry gun soon (tomorrow hopefully). I researched a couple guns and boiled it down to the Glock 27 and the Sringfield XD40 subcompact. In my head, it's pretty much a toss up. Shot both, liked both. Maybe opinions from some of you folks here could push me to one or the other. Also, from what I can find online, am I right in thinking that the price on these two are pretty much in the same ballpark (500-550)?
Any opinions anybody may have on this would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Re: Glock 27 vs. Springfield XD40 SC
I personally carry a G27 but to get it to be what I wanted I added a few things. Night sights is a must. I also picked up the plus 2 mag extensions to make the grip a little bigger for me. I carry this thing everywhere and its great. I unfortunately never have tried out the XD40 SC. I have heard good things about the XD's from several friends and think you would be fine with either one. If your going to carry alot you might want to look at the cost of accessories like mags, holsters, night sights and finding what ammo it shoots best with.

Springfield XD Sub-Compact --------------Glock 27
Caliber: 40S&W----------------------- CALIBER .40
Barrel: 3” Steel, Melonite,-------------- BARREL LENGTH 3.46 in.
Trigger pull: 5.5 - 7.7 lbs. ------------- TRIGGER PULL 5.5 lbs.
Slide Length: 6.25” ------------------- OVERALL LENGTH 6.29 in.
Height: 4.75” w/ Compact Mag -------- HEIGHT 4.17 in.
26 ozs. w/ Compact Mag,-------------- LOADED 26.98 oz.
Capacity : 9+1 RDS; 12+1 RDS -------- CAPACITY: 9/11/13/15/17
Width (unpublished) approx. 1.2 ------- WIDTH 1.18 in.
The two guns are so similar in size that there will be little difference in concealment. The slight edge does lean toward the Glock in weight and in size for most dimensions. The XD may be slightly shorter, but at the expense of nearly 1/2 inch of barrel length.
For the size, weight and barrel length I would go with the Glock.
If increased safety is your concern go with the XD.
Both have a proven track record, both are quality firearms.
I'm a glock fan, but I have contemplated this same issue simply because I like the extra safety.
Hope this helps,

Re: Glock 27 vs. Springfield XD40 SC
Exactly like above. They're very close to the same.
The bore sits higher on the XDSC, so in theory you should feel the recoil more. And the XDSC is about half an inch taller so concealing should be harder (again in theory).
I bought the XDSC because it fit me better. The grip on the G26 (I was looking at the 9mm) was too small for my hands, and while I still don't have a pinkie hold with the short XD mag, the grip felt thicker and more secure for me.
Get a feel for both of them, and fire them if possible.

Re: Glock 27 vs. Springfield XD40 SC
I don't know if this is a fair comparison. But;
When my wife shoots my son in laws, glock 22 or a friends glock 27. She hits point of aim from the sandbags. But hits high, in off hand controlled rapid fire. (Both have good groups.) When she shoots her own XD 45 compact, she hits point of aim from the sand bags and off hand. We think it has something to do with the angle of the grip in relation to the barrel. Because she has stated that she likes the feel of the XD compact better. (She has rather small hands.)
Both are well made pistols, try both of them and see which one works for you.

I actually shot both over the weekend......i like the springfield better, the glock just feels cheap to me. The springfield is more meatier, and feels like it has better stability.

Re: Glock 27 vs. Springfield XD40 SC
I have shot a few glocks ( G19, G22, G23) recently and I have also shot the XD40 Compact. I shot more consistently with all of the Glocks than I did with the XD. I would say put a few boxes of various rounds through each until you come to a decision. I was stuck between the XD and the glock. Ever gun store clerk I spoke with told me that they were the same gun. It just comes down to personal preference

Re: Glock 27 vs. Springfield XD40 SC
I bought a XD 40 subcompact Friday and shot it Saturday . I 2 was looking at the Glock but the xd had some more options . The indicator for the firing pin mechanisim and the magazine indicator on the top of the gun. The best option was the safety like the 1911 on the paulm of the hand.
I own a full size glock and the Xd seems better. The gun shot were u aimed it and functioned well

Re: Glock 27 vs. Springfield XD40 SC
Never shot the 27, but shot the 26. Also never shot the XD40SC, but put alot of ronds through the XD9SC.
Honestly, the XD seemed top heavy to me. Much better grip, and seemed to be built better but stll top heavy. My brothers full size XD feels alot better.
My honest opinion is that the M&P40c tops both of them. Try holding one of them and the XD and Glock will feel like bricks in your hand.
Hey, it's an excuse to fondle another gun
