For those on unemployment
Got a question for everyone that has collected unemployment. My work place is fighting my unemployment. Does anyone know how long it takes to get a determination? Ive only been waiting a week , but I need to start making plans if it doesnt go through. I know I can still fight it if it goes against me , but I still need to figure things out.

Re: For those on unemployment
Frist, keep filing your claims every two weeks.
When my employer fought my unemployment when I filed to reopekn my claim at the end of Feb it took till the beginning of April for it to be settled, 4-6 weeks is about the norm. Please help my Baby Kitties and I avoid being homeless.

Re: For those on unemployment
Yeah, but unless you were separated for willful misconduct you'll be fine. When I first opened my claim it was because I'd been fired for the number of days I'd missed, but I had doctors excuses for every one of them so it was ruled "absent with just cause" by the state and the company's challenge was overruled without it ever going to a "referree." Even fired doesn't mean denied as long as you weren't fired for something you intentionally did.

yea , im pretty sure ill win it if it goes to arbitration but not sure it will be in my favor right away without explaining. i might end up having to explain it to a arbitrator. its kind of a confusing thing. did they call you for explination?

Re: For those on unemployment
I had an issue with unemployment a few years ago. The Dep't of Labor kept denying my claim based on a different invalid reason every time. After about 5 appeals and invalid denials, I got fed up with it. I went to a lawyer who handles unemployment compensation, it took ONE letter from him on his letterhead and I had backpay for over a month within a couple days. I think it cost me like $75 for his services.

Re: For those on unemployment
It took them a month and a half with mine this summer. I'm a school bus driver and we're laid off during the summers. Usually it would only take a couple weeks, but not this time.
If you don't receive word after 2 weeks I'd call them.Μολὼν λάβε

Re: For those on unemployment
No, I just filed my claim, explained what happened, included a copy of my attendence report which stated all the absences included doctors notes and that was it from my end. When the company tried to deny it the state didn't even bother bc the attendence report was company generated on company letterhead. They'd provided me with the proof I needed to get approved.

Re: For those on unemployment
if they are fighting it. UC has 3 pay periods ( 6 weeks) till they must determine one way or another, you can call and ask whats going on but youll get nothing..
it took me 6.5 weeks to get a check
once they make determination youll get a check in like 2 days or a letter in the mail...
oh btw go online and sign up for direct deposit, that credit card thing sucks ass, you still get service charges taken off yoru check using an ATMTigers love pepper, they don't like cinnamon !
