Default SIG SAUER SP2022...what do you think of it?

Looking for input on this pistol as I'm thinking of getting on in the future. Anyone have one and can give me an honest review of it? TIA!

I purchased this model in 9mm two years ago as my first handgun. Personally I love it. I would say I've put at least 400 rounds through it and haven't had any FTE or FTF. I took it home after purchasing, cleaned it and went to the range. I find it very accurate. At lease as accurate as I'm capable of being.

I've always wanted a Sig and this was an affordable way into one as Cabelas was running a 12 month no finance charges on Sig's at the time. I think I paid $440 then.

I mainly keep it for home defense as I find it a bit on the large side for carry although I do have a Serpa holster for it. Not sure if you're aware but the French police force carries these and ordered thousands of them beginning in 2002 with the plan to keep them in service for 20 years so hence the model# - 2022.

Finding mags for this model can be a bit of a hunt and they run around $40 each normally. Right now as in everything if you can find the mags in stock someplace you'll most likely pay double.

    Hope that helps a little.

I bought a 2022 in 9mm after shooting my buddies in 40. They are a great pistol for the price. I carry it in a fobus paddle holster. It's very accurate . I have had 0 issues with it. I have probably 500 rounds through it so far. As it has been said above mags for it are hard to find and somewhat expensive.

I picked up the 40 a couple years ago. Great gun overall. My only complaint is that it is big and bulky - but it is what it is. Home defense and range, awesome - winter carry, sometime. As far as reliability and fit / finish though, very good, especially for the money!

Yes it is, but not as ugly as a Glock.

I would put 500 rds thru mine in less than two hours, not one problem, except for reloading the mags. Tough as nails, definitely an OC gun (for badassness of course), not IWB IMO.

If you have big hands like me the big and bulky is a good thing

I have had my SP2022 in 9mm for 3 years now and still really like it. I've put ~3000 rounds through it, 115, 124, 147 grain, as well as some hand-loads (No +P stuff tho) and never had a single FTF or FTE. Has a pretty nice trigger on it too. I occasionally OC but usually CC it in a Crossbreed Supertuck, I am not a big guy (6' 185#) and manage to conceal it without difficulty.

    Hope this helps.
will that extra 15% matter? not as much as being able to put one in their face. ~Edg

Lots of threads here on this gun , use the search engine and read them.

I have the older version the 2009 which i prefer.

Very nice guns and very underrated , very accurate too, its in my carry rotation, mine is a 9mm, i carry 9mm in the summertime, .40 and .357 sig/mag in winter so come summertime i will be rolling it out, you cant go wrong, very well made with a nice trigger and less expensive than a Glock/M&P/Springfield. And its a SIG.

I just won one about 2 weeks ago at a gun bash. This thing feels perfect in my hand. Only problem I have is trying to find 9MM bullets so I can actually shoot the damn thing. But yes, I think it is a very nice gun and what I have read shoots very well too.
