    Default Where do I find

A competent gunsmith who can repair the cracked and bent dust cover on my Series 70 Government Model, reassemble the internals and reattach the Bo-Mar Heavy Rib and accuracy tuner (which was removed to set the pistol up for red dot)? EGW is out because according to a very recent message from them they are not taking in work valued at less than $300. One other 'smith in this general area has already refused the job.

Sounds like you should just offer $300 to get it done at EGW. It sounds pretty reasonable to tig, refinish, and reassemble your rig.

I know Karl is not local but he has been rated (Gun Magazines) as one of the top 10 1911 gunsmiths in the country. He is personable and not out to jam you for money. I have been up at his shop numerous times and found him helpful in almost any area (tokerov, Fox Sterlingworth) eeven those not related to 1911s. Folks from literally all over the world send him their weapons (FBI, military, police and just plain people. I had a Springfield .45 in my shop that I could not budge the front site on. He made up a jig to hold this particular model's slide, milled out the old and inserted the new (customer provide) and charged $40.00! Hope this helps,
