The Political Manifesto Thread
I was thinking that some of us who enjoy politics/sociology might be interested to read others' points of view. I'm imagining this not as a string of comments about what everyone writes, but just an opportunity to see what other people think about the country, and the way it should be run, 2nd Amendment aside (I think we'll all agree that it's awesome). Write your campaign ballot, and let everyone know what you think. I would imagine more people than not have philosophies that are Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, etc. I don't really know anyone who just walks in lock-step with a party affiliation. I think an easy way to break it up would be:
Domestic Policy - taxes and how they should be spent, i.e. raise 'em or lower 'em, and what would you do with the $$ if you raise 'em, and what are you gonna cut if you lower 'em. More government or less government?
Foreign Policy - Drop bombs or drop food? Fence in the entire country? Invade everybody? The USA as world police? The Global economy or the national economy?
Social Policy - Religion? Lifestyle? How libertarian are you? Legal drugs? Legal hookers? Does it matter to you who is f*cking who?
I'll start workin' on mine.....Pittsburgh, PA

Re: The Political Manifesto Thread
So, I know this isnt what you where asking for. But the title made me do it:
18. Modern leftist philosophers tend to dismiss reason, science,
objective reality and to insist that everything is culturally
relative. It is true that one can ask serious questions about the
foundations of scientific knowledge and about how, if at all, the
concept of objective reality can be defined. But it is obvious that
modern leftist philosophers are not simply cool-headed logicians
systematically analyzing the foundations of knowledge. They are deeply
involved emotionally in their attack on truth and reality. They attack
these concepts because of their own psychological needs. For one
thing, their attack is an outlet for hostility, and, to the extent
that it is successful, it satisfies the drive for power. More
importantly, the leftist hates science and rationality because they
classify certain beliefs as true (i.e., successful, superior) and
other beliefs as false (i.e. failed, inferior). The leftist's feelings
of inferiority run so deep that he cannot tolerate any classification
of some things as successful or superior and other things as failed or
inferior. This also underlies the rejection by many leftists of the
concept of mental illness and of the utility of IQ tests. Leftists are
antagonistic to genetic explanations of human abilities or behavior
because such explanations tend to make some persons appear superior or
inferior to others. Leftists prefer to give society the credit or
blame for an individual's ability or lack of it. Thus if a person is
"inferior" it is not his fault, but society's, because he has not been
brought up properly.

Re: The Political Manifesto Thread
I say just follow the Constitution. If it's not on that paper the government doesn't get it. Straight and to the point. Nothing else to really say is there.....
For those that haven't read the Constitution yet that means at the very least that many laws will be removed, many taxes will be removed, we will go back on the gold standard, the free government handouts would dissapear, the federal government will be 1/4 the size that it currently is and we can all finally enjoy the freedom that we are "supposed" to have.
Someone else was saying this before..........now who was that.......?
Oh yeah, Ron Paul............but why would we want to listen to someone that knows what they are talking about...........if we listened to him that would mean that we would all have to start taking personal responsibility for ourselves. We can't have that........
