Group event.
Well Greg passed on what he had for the group event.
The first major hurdle is where to hold it?
Personally I think there is a lot to be said for holding it in Central PA.
I think Harrisburg Lancaster or Carlisle would be good because of proximity to major highways.
Obviously everything else goes off of where it's held. So for now I want to concentrate on location.
From there it's do we make it a 2 day event.
Speakers
I need to talk to them, but I would like Dan and Doug obviously.
Who else would we like to hear?
So people sound off lot me know what you think.
Where should we hold this event?
If there's something you can help me with PM me and we'll talk

Re: Group event.
If you come west we have good facilities (PMSC) and a large number of involved and willing participants that are used to working together.
As far as speakers, try Kim Stoffler
One day event would be easier for me, and prob most, as you dont need to worry about accomidations/ time commitments and so on.

Re: Group event.
The center of the state makes more sense for everyone involved. There's no logical reason to make it Philly-centric or PGH-centric. Très-geeky article here about the center of the state controversy: http://www.geog.psu.edu/news/centerofpa.html
Acording to them, the center of the state: http://atlas.mapquest.com/maps/linktomap.adp?mapdata=IgGhLx%252bMihCGoSbPrfNHcqxN RgLB0UQ96R%252fUdNaGvXtWuVJGMsjyyjlxnals0oCrNGA8yC kmFKEBvXJv3SEWAMOmzryAcQ05PEhjE1hwXaL%252bK%252bfZ 6CumUHJnBds5LZ5tit7gn5OnBYfsH2objBTuAnch66rXLvWrZ7 tR8%252bjLVBZ0GNVKSqosPyVw%252f0oCy8K8njjVsKpldLLr nVkUzgOxFdSTuTngoXX7XCLG1Ix%252blS%252fkBaiIoOhOsS 4ZcZGL%252bqkGFtnspdQm7wtmgFj%252fOnoJm95KozZTqu1l BZC2UTwc19u0bxCPIm9e7PlLppG%252f2%252bl6%252b8RdBy Jp1jv0SWC8PMrILCAIHhp63YL2IG3M8Ci%252fZuuqaRu5cyVM WQaI33aAPvJL6oqUwZOhThgBCR1QS6DfxhwH8gmPC34JpAhf8b 5Z9ol9wRqiDepnWlLLJWluQGW4cf77Ng7Pf%252bx9UOAd6SIh uFeGS8loKFwed%252fuXrUNwzsrzZy89wJYnpUb14LxvFJSOh0 nAmBmvSeld6RHpCGwCHBUrd2%252fVPWZkdDMNvCjFIriJF6GA z4HwmXYA1HEbLOXLneLCSMNcsEJjP6HEkR4h5MQ0yecn6fwFZv QU5bJmke0QFtkAbA8fKONFAGvjWN76b3fp7iV51oVV8%252b86 jFwp1QWjip7WVjOl%252bubR0shXu1IqXJDBV4W6DGFFI7Yuvq ijVh9EMtzcj3Wkx0j4%252fnCC1X8mcx8Up1nHi%252bDm%252 bqGH4F8ERGloN43OyZeOmAn3QG4E3qBwtb%252fQB3inAF8n96 ZkW7d2s%252bDxg2a0E3HSGcvUnQOmbo0xJGJqJA%253d%253d &ms=40.874942|-77.802738|7|1257|744|street
So, what's around there, or within a reasonable drive of just off Rt. 80?

Re: Group event.
oohhhhh they have a 1000 yard rifle range, cool.
Dont want to debate this too much and crap up the thread (even though there isnt much in it otherwise) but where would be the most central location for the MOST # OF PAFOA MEMBERS ? Rocketfoot had that map somewhere, maybe that can help. I mean if we have 70% of membership in one area it would make sense to place the event closer to the highest concentration of people. Making it most accesable to the most # of people.

Re: Group event.
I think the reason you are lacking response is because no one ever put this together, Get a place, make a date, then people can say I will go or not. Untill then its just a theory.
Out west, 2 guys met one day and invited others, months later, we still meet every second sunday of every month rain or shine, (freeze some times) and shoot, but had 2 guys not made the time and place public, we sould stil each be shooting once in a while and never making it a real event.Skeet is a sport where you are better to hit half of each bird then completely blast one and miss the other completely.

Re: Group event.
Shawn, the other thing that it has going for it is that it's only about 40 miles south of Rt. 80, and 70 miles north-northwest or so of the main branch of the PA Turnpike, and mostly highway driving on both of those ends.

Re: Group event.
Wait, I just looked at that map... You dont expect any of us leaving and taking the highway 80 east to actually make it past Hershy do you?
If my wife is with me, I would have to leave at least 3 days before the event to even think about making it to the center of PA broke.Skeet is a sport where you are better to hit half of each bird then completely blast one and miss the other completely.
