Default A shooting with a machine gun?

    http://www.myfoxphilly.com/story/192...-gun-recovered

Not that Fox29 always gets it right. If there was a shooting here with a machine gun, that can't be good. Maybe drug cartel involvement being how hard machine guns are to get?
Hafa Adai! IANAL I merely state my opinion. If I am wrong, please correct me.

NBC news 10 had the story just now, and they mentioned 'automatic weapon', which would seem to indicate a true select fire/ auto firearm.

    Machine gun? Sure...

    Handy tool for media:

I doubt it was a fully auto weapon. First only extremely experienced shooters would shot only 16 rounds when firing a machine gun, unless of course the shooter only had 16 rounds in the mag.

Second the bullet casings on the floor look more like handgun rounds maybe like a 9mm. Of course there are 9mm machine guns but it most likely that they had a tech9or something similar.

Third the shots group is quite close for a machine gun and, again, unless you are really good with a fully auto weapon, that is very difficult to do.

Beside we all know gang members don't know how to shoot.

Waiting for the retaliation shoot out now.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it was actually full-auto. Bad guys aren't restricted to the same type of firearms that we can get. They can get whatever they want, and for a lot cheaper than we have to spend for legal full-autos.

I've put full auto weapons into the hands of newer and even first time shooters, and they've had no problem with either 1)not dumping the entire mag or 2)keeping shots on target.

From what I've seen, people's impulse is not to simply hold the trigger down while the gun sprays around like a firehose (unless you're in a movie). Instead they wind up shooting 3-5 round bursts, which group a little bigger than a human torso at 15-20 yards.
that's just my very limited experience though.

Maybe so, but in my experience, 20 years in the military and last couple as an instructor, that is exactly what they do. Hold the trigger down and allow the barel to ride upwards just like in the movies,or try to shoot from one side to the otherback and forth, because that is what they know, what they learned from the movies.

If you have experience obviousely it is different.

My guess it was a Slidefire stock on your standard semi-auto AR or AK.

That's what I did the first time I had the opportunity to fire a full auto M-16.
