Default How you hauling your personal gear when the SHTF

I just made a nice purchase today, and it made me wonder what everyone else is using out there to carry your gear with you when the Zombies attack, the SHTF, or you go out to the range for a day of training. Here is the set up I just picked up today. Lets see what you all are using.

My Zombie / SHTF Battle Gear starts to build.

My new Tactical Vest made by tactical tailor. Very well constructed and will take a heck of a beating thats for sure.

It has one big SAW pocket. Which can carry my 75 round drum or a couple boxes of ammo. Two big pockets that you could get two Nalgene bottles into with no problem. Also good for carrying other supplies you may need. Two smaller pockets that will hold smaller items nicely.

I got a very nice shoulder harness to support the weight that will be riding on my shoulders. It is going to be very comfortable.

I still want to order a Hydration system for on the back of the vest. You can't fight without water. Bladder systems are the way to go thats for sure.

I just have to order some magazine carriers to put the AK mags in on the vest. I was told that these ones have very good ratings. So I am going to order two next payday. That will allow me to carry 8 magazines fully loaded.

Well, what if anything, are you guys using when the SHTF.

NineseveN's rig is what I hope to emulate most over time. His bug out post on neardeathexperiment.com's is a fantastic read.

Funny you mention that, that is my rig, MTBKSKI just bought it off me.

I got something new I just put together...but the old stuff still works. I put the experiment in neardeathexperiments.com.

Your reviews and reasoning per piece of gear makes great food for thought, I really appreciate it.

Interesting that this thread "pop-ed-up" tonight. I was just going through some of my old (1960-70's) US Army stuff, packing into a foot locker the long term field equipment sort of items. Web-gear, steel pot, canteen, ponchos, tent stakes, binocs. Useful or not, it's stuff I am familiar with.

I am planning this weekend to use my old duffel bag to hold some "their knocking on the door" sort of bug out stuff. Extra ammo, first aid, clean/dry socks, cold weather gear, MREs, etc.

I'm not that sophisticated with my BoB stuff, but I'll be doing some research as I put things together.

I run an entire site dedicated to the topic, so I guess it makes sense that I have my ducks mostly in a row.

Not trying to plug for membership, but some of the more interesting areas (first aid/medical and firearms type stuff) is hidden to non-members (I like to be able to control who sees what could be life-saving advice but probably shouldn't be followed by someone without access to the rest of the information there, but there is still a lot of good stuff there in the open areas.

Sorry for hijacking your thread MTBKSKI.
