Got a new recoil guide rod
I just bought a Glock 23 and was wondering if anyone has a steel
recoil guide rod. If so, did you buy a Captured or non-captured and what brand or kind did you get?. I don't really understand the difference but I got this one from LoneWolf. Thanks for your opinions.

Re: Got a new recoil guide rod
I hope you didn't buy it because of their marketing hype on the page you linked.
Captured means the spring is contained at both ends of the spring, non-captured means the spring can shoot off the guide rod if you're not careful.
Non-captured is easier to swap spring tensions on, and replace the spring on as it wears.

Re: Got a new recoil guide rod
I often run a non-captive setup using a Wolff steel guide rod and 20lbs spring. I sometimes experiment with +p+ ammo in my Glocks and like to run a little heavier spring to ease battering on the weapon.
