I think that this is a great idea. I will definitely contact my local reps. How often does this type of legislation come up? Do you guys think that something like this is really possible or just another piece of false hopes?

I believe that as long as we're willing to stand and fight together for this legislation to be signed into law, it definitely can happen.

However, with the current President and administration, it's gonna be a long, hard fight for it.

We may come out bruised and bloody on the other side of this long hard fight but at least we will know, win or lose, that we were fighting the good fight and we were fighting for freedom.

    Already being discussed here http://forum.pafoa.org/national-11/4...oly-grail.html

This is a bad thing even tho the NRA supports it,
This is a bad bill. This gives the Fed the power to make a privilege for us, then the Fed can and most certainly will revoke. When they do revoke we will not have the ability to carry anywhere without threat of arrest no matter what state law will be.

If they really wanted this bill all they would have to do is incorporate the 2nd Amendment as they have the 1st, 3rd, 4th.......
Then the states would have to recognize it is a "Right" !!!!!!!!!

I have to disagree. The Founding Fathers upheld our natural born right to defend ourselves, knowing that any type of tyranny by our government against its people would result in a revolution against said government. Thus the Founding Fathers provide us with our birth-right means to be armed, even if that means to be armed against those protected to uphold us if and when We The People would be betrayed.

I always worry when Congress chips away at the powers reserved to the several States, no matter what the justification.

To quote part of the bill (or its explanation):

The bill would not create a federal licensing system; it would simply require the states to recognize each other's carry permits, just as they recognize drivers' licenses.
