Legal question
How does an organization go about owning a firearm? I am part of an organization that does an annual trap or skeet event as part of a fundraiser and was thinking about putting some of this years proceeds into the org owning a shotgun that can be used at these events.

Re: Legal question
They need to form legally as a trust, LLC, corp, or one of the other type entities. Then one of the named officers or trustee's purchases the gun in the name of the entity(if going through a dealer).
However, for long guns, which aren't regulated as much as "firearms" or NFA - the legal entity can also purchase a rifle or shotgun privately just as if you and I had transferred one between each other. If the shotgun/rifle is to be property of the legal entity, then it should be listed as one of its assets.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515, SteveWag
