Default Carrying while hunting- holster choice

So the last few years I've been trying my hand at hunting (just for buck season). My reality was that when or if I chose to carry my pistol that there was simply no easy way of getting to it with the layers of clothing that I wore so for the most part I didn't carry while out and about.

Yesterday while surfing the web I came across a chest rig that after some consideration, I have opted to order and give a try. Looks like it would serve great for back packing and related activities.

HPG makes a nice rig especially if you want to conceal it, at the time I looked into them it didn't include an internal holster however Contact Concealment makes one called the HPG. I ordered one for my wife's CC bag and it works good.

When I started carrying a revolver for hunting I opted for a Kydex chest rig from GunfightersINC which I like very much.

My S&W 686 6inch barrel has been carried in a DeSantis Cross Draw Holster for over 20 years,it can also be carried strong arm but find climbing my tree stand is better in the cross draw position !

About a year or so ago I was in Wawa in Fort Washington with the morning going-to-the-office coffee crowd when I saw the customer across from me wearing an un-tooled version of essentially this rig, with a modern hand cannon, worn over a camo fleece:

This would be the one for me. I have wanted one of these for a long time.

I have to pick up a Diamond D Guides Choice chest holster yet for my Redhawk. I already have their hip holster. The Guides Choice is very popular in Alaska and places where they carry in case of big brown ones.

If we're talking about a protection piece, I just carry a j frame or sp101 in a nemesis holster (pocket carry) when I'm hunting. I have a rifle, so I don't see a need to carry another
    heavy gun. YMMV
