Ban Assault Weapons PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please ban assault rifles and or assault weapons from your vocabulary now, immediately, and forever.
Unless you are having a historical discussion about what Uncle Adolph named his StuG-44, then we are to instead call them semi-auto rifles.
And while your'e at it - stop calling firearms "weapons".
NOT assault rifles. Not assault weapons.
None of us ASSAULT anyone.
None of us use anything - knife, fork, bowling ball - as a WEAPON to ASSAULT with.
I own ARs, FALs, and AK rifles - I dont own assault weapons.
We enjoy lawful ownership of firearms. We support jailing of anyone who uses anything as a WEAPON to ASSAULT with.
As stupid as this sounds, WE ALL NEED TO TALK LIKE WE UNDERSTAND THAT OUR OWN WORDS FEED THE ANTI-GUN CROWD WITH THE SOUND BITES THEY TURN AGAINST US.

Re: Ban Assault Weapons PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it makes you feel any better, I rarely use the word "gun" because of the negative meaning that word has been assigned by the media.
I use the word firearm/handgun/rifle...
I do use the word weapon when it is appropriate.
(and you'll never hear me call a magazine a clip!)
Please read thru all of my posts and let me know if there's anything else I need to work on. (besides punctuation!)
I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Ban Assault Weapons PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's a long military habit to refer to firearm as a weapon, versus "gun", i doubt i'm gonna stop doing it anytime soon. I personally don't see any issues with it though, my handguns, rifles, shotgun, etc. ARE weapons.
I'll give you "assault rifles" or whatnot as sounding more evil to the moonbat left, but you and I and others like us changing the words here and there... don't think it's going to make any difference, sorry.

Re: Ban Assault Weapons PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm quite proud of my assault rifles, as well as the rest of my gun/weapons and firearms.
I couldn't care less for your political correctness, or anybody else's for that matter.==============
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
~Samuel Adams

Re: Ban Assault Weapons PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are correct, a true assault weapon is capable of burst or full-auto fire. And yes, our semi-automatic weapons are not true "assault" weapons. You know that, I know that, I think it's safe to say we all as firearm enthusiasts, know that. The real problem with the term is the fact that the scared sheeple, and otherwise firearms-ignorant general public that doesn't know that.
The anti-gun crowd makes use of the assault weapon terminology when describing semi-automatic rifles because it instills fear of our semi-automatics into a general public that can't otherwise tell the difference between our semi-automatic AKs, ARs, etc and the fully automatic versions that the military uses. I believe that is what the original poster was trying to convey.Last edited by Cheeseybacon; October 16th, 2007 at 02:52 PM.

Re: Ban Assault Weapons PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My drill instructors went to a lot of trouble to ensure that I refer to firearms as weapons. They even tought us a little ryme which I won't repeat in mixed company. It would be a hard habit to break.
That being said, I don't disagree with trying to set the voting public straight on the lawful purpose and use of semi-auto rifles.
