Default By the power "invested" in me...???

OK, so I am like 99.999% certain that during a wedding ceremony the preacher, judge, ship's captain or other official celebrant should say "By the power vested* in me, I now pronounce you man and wife".

But many, many times on TV and movies or in writings you hear or read "By the power invested in me...".

And I recently attended a wedding where the preacher clearly said "By the power invested in me...".

Really strange how so many people, and so often, get this wrong.

Just an observation... of something that bugs me

it should be vested! although many custom written ceremonies don't include that part.

Yeah, my wedding the preist just said, I'd now like to introduce Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Marshall.

None of that "By the power vested in me" crap. Just "I now pronounce you man and wife." and then i fainted. LOL

I have no idea what the pastor said at my wedding. My wife got a case of the gigglefits halfway through and by the time the pastor pronounced us man and wife we were both laughing as well as everyone in attendence.

Skeet is a sport where you are better to hit half of each bird then completely blast one and miss the other completely.

The choice is yours, place your faith in the court system and 12 of your peers, or carried away by 6 friends.

Well, it falls in the same category as then/than and farther/further. People make mistakes.
