Gun Build Idea Hi-Point 9mm
Simple plans:
Buy Hi-Point 9mm Carbine
Buy ATI Stock for it
Assemble
Mount my just laying around Famous Maker 3-9x26 Variable Power Tactical Scope on it
Take out to the 200 yard eventually
Later buy a suppressor for awesomely pleasant shooting.
Now should this plan go smoothly at least up until the suppressor part?
Ati stock
Scope

Re: Gun Build Idea Hi-Point 9mm
Well it seems like a lot of fun. but its also reminds me of putting a $1200 stereo in a 1988 civic.
I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).

Re: Gun Build Idea Hi-Point 9mm
keep in mind that shooting 9mm @ 200 yards....you're going to have to have the scope adjusted to a point where it will be REALLY off at normal contact distances for a pistol cal carbine.
Otherwise, blast away!

Re: Gun Build Idea Hi-Point 9mm
I'd skip the suppressor personally, and the 200 yard thoughts. Other than that, it's a great, inexpensive way to have fun at the range.
here's mine.......

Re: Gun Build Idea Hi-Point 9mm
If you want to have a handy carbine for 50-100 yards that won't break the bank, go for it.
If you want to shoot at longer ranges, buy a rifle.
An SKS would be a lot wiser investment in my opinion.
Speaking from the older/wiser perspective in having bought the HP carbine, and then an SKS a year later. After I got the SKS, I forgot all about the carbine, then I sold the HP a bit later to fund the purchase of another real rifle.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Gun Build Idea Hi-Point 9mm
Emptymag, I certainly would not suggest that the 995 is a long range tool, but it's great fun to plink with at 100 yards, as you have said. And, I don't feel a swift kick in the wallet every time I pull the trigger. For everyone? Hardly. But I would be hesitant to not call it a "real" rifle.
Just my .02, YMMV
93-2.3, I made the barrel shroud. It's phoenolic tubing, with delrin ends. PM me if you want to discuss your Mosin.

Re: Gun Build Idea Hi-Point 9mm
Well, it's not a real rifle, it's a carbine.
As mentioned, if it's going to be used as it was designed/intended, "go for it".
If he wants to use it as a long(er) range rifle, he should buy a rifle.
It wasn't meant as a "gun snobbish" comment. I think the HP carbine is a good buy for the money... however, it's a bad investment if it isn't what you really want/need.
Willtallica, think about it before sinking money into something that isn't what you really want. Sometimes buying less expensive, is more costly in the end.

Re: Gun Build Idea Hi-Point 9mm
Couple of things though:
I like trying to drop compensate so with a big drop, and a scope with mil-dot reticle I'm thinking zeroed in about 50 or where the trajectory of the bullet is mostly flat will be fun to use at 200 to simulate long range even though it may irritate my debt perception.
Guns about $150, body is $70, and it looks like its got excellent handling. If the SHTF I wouldn't mind someone watching my back with it if it actually feels as good as it looks to carry.
About the suppressor there's no way I can even afford to buy the carbine until about 3 months, but probably even longer, and before I put a suppressor on anything I have to first really like it, but just imagine the gun that you like shooting with the recoil at least half gone, and the blast much quieter.
