FNP-45 ACP, INTERESTING MORNING
A Good Friend had made a purchase earlier this week at Bass Pro in the
Harrisburg Area. They had been having a SALE for the FNP-45 Kit. It
came with three (3) 14 round double stack magazines, Kydex Paddle Holster,
with and add on for Belt Carry, Double Magazine pouch, Practice Barrel(Hard
Plastic) , two Grip adapters, lock, and of course the Carry Case was also
First Rate, for the price of $599.00 plus the tax, PICS, etc,. Well the call
came for a Sunday morning meet at Range #1, at the West Shore Sportsmans
Club.
This pistol is not for a small handed persons. It resembled my Sig P226 with
a tad larger Grip and Frame. I looked at in the frame of a duty LEO/Military
Semi-Auto. Ambidextrous de-cocker and magazine releases. Three dot
combat sight. Take-down, again resembled the Sig-Sauer. Magazines were
metal and well made. Did a standard field strip, Checked the owners manual,
light lubrication on reccomended parts.
Targets were 12 inch paper plates, placed at 15 and 25 yds. Ammo was UMC
230 grain FMJ, 250 ROUND value-pak. My friend let it rip with 3 5 shot strings, checking each mag as he went. The pistol had no FTF, FTE or Eject.
Shot group was left of center at 9 oclock, 1-3 inches. Loaded up again, fired
at 25 yards, 3-5 inch, still a little left at 9 oclock again. Sight adjustment
made by drifting sight, not much. Loaded up again three mags, Point of Aim,
dead center, and the pistol was dead on at 15 and 25 yards. Looking at this
pistol as a straight up LEO/MILITARY PIECE, it performed flawlessly for
both of us. Next we put another 60 rounds between us at steel plates, that
were 11 by 23 inches in a diamond shape. Strings averaged 9 out 10 hits.
This double stack 45 ACP by FN is a "shooter" for a Combat Hand Gun. Felt
Recoil was less than my 1911 and easily manageable. Overall a Great pistol.
I had only one minor observation, The front blade of the sight was a little
thin (skinny). My friend also agreed and advised a new front site was to be
found and installed if they are out there. I felt he made one heck of a buy
for it and unfortunatley, got me to thinking " Do I need another 45 acp, you
know the answer, "Of Couse".FUNDAMENTALS

Re: FNP-45 ACP, INTERESTING MORNING
FN makes a heck of a pistol. They are extremely under rated. I have the 9mm version and I love it. It has performed flawlessly for over 1100+ rds. It is very very accurate and the trigger pull is like butter. I would assume nothing less of the .45 version and has been getting good review since it was released. Also over on the FN fourms i have herd rumor of a sub-compact FN FNP version pistol in 9mm and .40 S&W...if that comes out I might have to seriously take a look into that. But glad to hear from another satisfied FN owner. Also there prices are very good on their pistols i think I picked mine up for 439.00 with 3 mags a holster and a 2x mag carrier cant beat that deal.
