    Default U.S. Army Colt 1911-A1

My uncle is a long retired Army. he gave me a U.S. Army Colt 1911-A1 that serial numbers indicate was manufacturered in 1945. It also has the tell tale off coloring of the period near the muzzel on the slide.

It is in excellent condition. Anyone have any idea of what this could be worth?

$1000-$2500 is my guess. But you need a lot more info about condition, markings etc. Special or rare guns might bring 2-3 times this,or more. The Valley Forge Gun show usually has a dealer from Florida that specializes in them but i forget his name.

    +1

Without seeing pics and verifying that it's original, it's imossible to give you a narrrower window than that. When I say, "original" a lot of guns were worked over by various government armories in the late forties and fifties. Many times they swapped parts. As a result, there are a lot of "Frankenguns" out there.
