Ohio Sex Offender Captured After Bodies Found at His Home

Oct. 30: Cleveland police search the porch at the home of Anthony Sowell, where bodies have been discovered.

Authorities in Ohio captured a convicted sex offender Saturday after the remains of what appeared to be six people were found at his home.

Anthony Sowell, 50, was caught walking down a Cleveland street just after noon, capping a massive manhunt for him in the area.

Sowell, who identified himself as the suspect after police approached him, is wanted on felony rape and assault charges. There was no word yet on whether he will be charged with murder, and no charges have yet been filed.

Investigators continued digging for more remains on his property Saturday as they worked to identify the bodies already uncovered.

Cleveland police went to check on reports of a rape at Sowell's house on Thursday. During their search of the premises, they found two badly decomposed bodies on the third floor.

A third body was discovered Friday afternoon in a shallow grave in the basement. The possible remains of three more people were found in Sowell's house and backyard, according to WJW-TV in Cleveland.

Autopsies were done Friday, but because of the level of decomposition it will take time to determine the age, gender, race and identity of the victims and how they died.

Cleveland police set up a command post for anyone with a friend or relative who vanished between 2005 and the present.

Authorities say Sowell spent 15 years in prison for a 1989 rape.

A $12,000 reward had been offered for Sowell's capture.

But how many people do you know that have six bodies in various states of decomposition in their house that were NOT charged with murder?

I agree with giving the benefit of the doubt, but I cant think of a single reasonable explanation that one could make when you have 6 dead bodies in your home in various states of decomposition.

Sounds like a very lazy Ohio Sex Offender. 6 bodies? Some on the third floor?

I am wrong to want bad things to happen to him, so just take him out back and end it for everyone. Or take him to the third floor, that doesn't seem to disturb the neighbors.
