Riddle Me This...

3 men are traveling in a blizzard and stop at a motel in a small town somewhere near Peoria,Il. There's only one room left so they share it. The clerk tells them the room is $30 so they each pay $10.
When the manager comes in later he tells the clerk he overcharged the men, the room was only $25.

He gives the clerk $5 and tells him to take it back to them.
The clerk figures you can't divide $5 three ways, so he puts $2 in his pocket and gives the men back a dollar each.

Now, if they each got a dollar back that means they paid $9 each instead of $10. And 9x3 is 27, the $2 the clerk kept makes 29...so what happened to the other dollar?

I don't know the answer, so don't ask me...LOL!

They originally paid $30 (3 x $10), they got a refund of $3 (3 x $1) which means they accutally paid $27 (3 x $9) for the room, not $25. The clerk kept $2 of the $27 for himself, ($27-2) = $25

New Problem

You must cross a rope bridge.

You have with you, a chicken, a fox, and some chicken feed (not sealed) and the animals are not caged.

You can only take one item at a time across the bridge.

The problem is, if you take the fox, the chicken will eat the feed. If you take the feed first, the fox will eat the chicken.

In what order do you take the items and get them all across safely?

He takes the chicken across first as the fox won't eat the feed

he then walks back, picks up the feed and takes it across.

Then picks up the chicken and returns it to the original side, picks up the fox (and leaves the chicken) and transports the fox across so now the Fox and the feed are across the bridge.

he then returns empty handed, picks up the chicken and takes it across.

all 3 are now on the other side

I would have let the chicken eat the feed, the fox eat the chicken and just carried the Fox across. Them rope bridges are tricky and dangerous and I aint risking my life unnecessarily for no stinkin riddle!

The pit is filled half way with a sleep inducing liquid that when touched will put you to sleep for a period of 1 hour. Your only tools to transport the Ankh are 106' of 3/4" hemp rope, a rock, a spike and a chicken skull.


You have 10min to complete the task.


You can use any of the tools or none of the tools.


How do you complete the task?

Your only tools to transport the Ankh are 106' of 3/4" hemp rope, a rock, a spike and a chicken skull.

Take the rope, and loop it through the skull's eyes, also attach the rock (for weight). Then throw the skull/rock at the spire, and get the skull to stick on top.

Spike the other end of the rope to the ground.

Put the Ankh in your pocket, and crawl along the rope.

Place the Ankh on the spire.
