Bayonet on M4 Carbine?
Is there any Bayonet that is made to PROPERLY fit onto a M4 Carbine 16.5: barrel? At the group shoot...if I understood correctly... there is no bayonet that fits this shorter barrel properly. Am I understanding this correctly, or is there a bayonet option for my 2 Carbines?

Re: Bayonet on M4 Carbine?
Something like these might be of help depending on your barrel profile.

ETA:
On 16 CAR barrels, mounts on the barrel ahead of the FSB/Gas block to get the correct offset of the lug from the FH to affix a bayonet.
From the CMMG site:
Bayonet Lug Adapter - Bayonet Lug Adapter. Works ideally with 16 preban H-Bars that have the bayonet positioned too far back from the flash hider.Last edited by -JD-; January 20th, 2009 at 10:43 AM.

Re: Bayonet on M4 Carbine?
I think I see where your going with this as a solution....Since I have the factory lug...but it does not allow the bayonet to fit to the flash surpressor....add a bolt on lug in front of it to put the bayonet into the correct position. I never thought of that as a fix, but seeing what those pictures are, it may be the way to make it happen. I will look into this as a viable aoption.
Thank you.

Re: Bayonet on M4 Carbine?
A while ago somebody was making one with an extended handle so that it would properly fit a 16" barreled carbine. But I think they quit making them.
If you really have your heart set on fixing bayonet, I might suggest picking up a 20" barreled AR-15, or perhaps a 14.5 " with either a permanently attached FH to make it 16" or an SBR lower receiver.
It's always good to have an excuse to buy another AR15.

being ignorant on this subject, what would the purpose be to have a bayonet on your AR platform?

Re: Bayonet on M4 Carbine?
For the same reason you would put one on any military style rifle, to look more like the battle field version of the gun. Its not a thing you go to the range with as much as it is for when the piece is on display in your home. No, it is not required.....but Yes...it does add the true military style look to the civilian-ized rifle.
Another way of saying it would be..... Cause I want to....plain and simple

Re: Bayonet on M4 Carbine?
I have an old (M7?) bayonet and it seems to fit alright. There is just a little barrel to blade overlap.
